So you need some combinator that takes an operation Int -> Int -> Int and lifts it to an operation Maybe Int -> Maybe Int -> Maybe Int. Note that your problem doesn't really have anything to do with lists, you could just as well ask for x₀ = Just 5 You don't need any magic fold, you just need a suitable operator to fold with. (The use of sequenceA imposes the Applicative constraint on the Maybe instance as well as "upgrading" the Foldable constraint on the instance to a Traversable constraint.) MagicFoldr :: (Traversable t, Applicative f) => (a -> b -> b) -> b -> t (f a) -> f b ![]() The "magic" function (which we'll give its fully generalized type) is import Control.Applicative This is similar to the use of liftA2 and liftM2 in the other answers, except we're lifting the entire fold instead of folding with a lifted operator. The end result is > fmap (foldr (*) 1) (sequence ) Use fmap to "lift" foldr (*) 1 from -> Int to Maybe -> Maybe Int. Use sequence to collapse a value to a single Maybe value. You can bridge this gap by changing both your value and the expected argument type to the common type Maybe as follows. The issue here is that foldr (*) 1 expects a value of type (we'll assume Int, rather than Num a => a for simplicity), while you have a value of type. ![]() I'm sure there is a straightforward and idiomatic abstraction to this, but I've not managed to figure out how to manipulate fold or use foldM to meet this end. In the case where this list instead is of Maybe Ints, I'm trying to work out how to do something like x = To get the product of these Ints, I know that I can do: result = foldr (*) 1 x While I'm finding lots of documentation and other stack overflow questions, I feel like I am getting lost in the noise of other people's examples when trying to figure out how to get this working.Ĭritically, I'm not Just (aha) looking to get this working, I am also looking to understand the abstraction, which hitherto I'm definitely failing to do. Spoilers, similar to karts, affect the base stats of your combination, however less so. Even with this, the handling isn't awful, either. Remember what I said earlier, when I said that Odie's speed is higher than his acceleration, but acceleration is more important? The Woof-Mobile only slightly decreases the speed, while drastically increasing acceleration, giving Odie above-average stats in both areas. ![]() The best kart in the game, especially paired up with Odie, is the Woof-Mobile, giving an insane acceleration boost. Since they are all unlocked at the start of the game, you don't have to complete certain missions to get the one that you want. Karts affect the base stats of your combination, and are important in all game modes including time trials. I forgot to mention this so keep it in mind. This makes Odie, by far, the best character. Odie's perfect combo just so happens to be the best combination in the game, giving him an extra bonus. Kart Combination, if done right, can drastically change a character's stats depending on what character they use. This is the reason why Odie is preferred over Garfield in regular play, because although their base stats are the same, Odie's hat gives him a huge advantage. This hat makes lasagnas last up to 30% longer, which can be very useful. The reason why most people choose Odie when playing is because of his exclusive hat, Joe Montagno (the football helmet). Hats affect how much of an item you get, and how long you get it for. However, some character have their own exclusive hats that only they can wear. The hats usually do not affect time trial score, for they affect how items work in the race. For example, if you complete a time trial and get a bronze medal, you will obtain a hat, however it won't be as effective as if you got a gold medal in that time trial. There are also certain degrees at which you can obtain these add-ons. These can all be unlocked in various different ways, usually by completing a time trial, winning a race, gathering puzzle pieces, or winning a Grand Prix. When customizing your kart, you can change your kart, add a hat, and add a spoiler. The reason why Odie and Garfield are preferred all goes down to kart combination. Especially since I have just said the acceleration is the most important element, with characters that have a higher acceleration, you would think that they are better in comparison. However, you will notice that Odie and Garfield's speeds are higher than their acceleration. ![]() Garfield has the same base stats, and I believe Arlene does as well, if not, then someone else. Most of the time, you will see players using Odie, because of his high speed and acceleration. Handling is usually never that important especially when you can simply drift or slow down (the only exception with this is on the track Country Bumpkin).īecause of this, you will want to balance these two stats. ![]() ![]() In Garfield Kart: Furious Racing, acceleration is the most important element of your kart combination, however, speed is important, too. Of course, whenever the vehicle is stopped by a wall or an item, they can get back to normal speed much more easily. The character may not have as high as a top speed, but it can preserve that speed easier, especially at sharp turns. In that game, acceleration is the most important stat, and it has to do with the physics of the game. Let's take Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, for example. Usually, in a racing game, speed is your best bet, because if your car is faster, you can complete the track faster, simple enough. In Garfield Kart: Furious Racing, there are three stats shown when selecting your character, speed (at the top), acceleration (in the middle), and handling (at the bottom). The game's tracks and cups are the exact same as the original Garfield Kart.In a racing game, there are usually stats that are more important than the rest. ![]() ![]() Now you need to activate Amazon Music on Roku, launch the Amazon Music app on your Roku TV, and select Sign in or Get Started.
